Hey, Happy Sunday
We have lots of birdhouses around our yard, (handmade by Ron)
We just placed the one in this video up in the back yard along with a new feeder and bird bath for the complete bird experience!
I was amazed while watching this little Wren take to the house within 10 minutes and start filling it with nesting materials.
The bird in this video is a House Wren and doing some research I learned that they are complex and determined little guys!
The male usually has three prominent perches from which he defends his territory of 1/2 - 3/4 acres! Wow - he has three residences! The male gets things ready for his mate. He places sticks and twigs one at a time in each of his 3 homes. However - he could even have twelve homes! What a catch!
He goes about making nests and when he finds a mate he brings her around to each site to show her, she then selects the one she likes best. Once selected, she puts the finishing touches on it and prepares it for their little family.
How sweet is that? So while watching this little guy I could see how determined he is to get this place built and ready for his mate. He picks up sticks that are way too long and he sits there on the perch patiently maneuvering the twig so he can place it inside the house. He has such determination. He dropped several twigs but he didn't let that stop him as he continued to build the nest. He worked on it all day, and for several days later. The video below shows him placing just one twig!
So how determined are you to reach your goals?
Is this you?
Do you have too much to do and not enough time? Of course you do! You're a business owner, you always have a more than full schedule.
Consider hiring Virtual help.
A Virtual Assistant can save you time and money. Entrepreneurs use VAs for anything from making follow-up calls to sending out mailings and even Website Design. A Virtual Assistant becomes a member of your team but they work remotely. You don't have to hire them as an employee and you don't have to find space for them in your office.
So what types of things can a VA do for you?
The thing is - Virtual Assistants do hundreds of tasks! Your VA is a phone call, text or email away when you need help.
Free yourself from this stuff and look into hiring a Virtual Assistant. I have helped many clients get out from under their piles of paperwork and meet deadlines - that's what Virtual Assistants do.

Hey Good Sunday morning to you!
What a week! I was slammed with work which I love - I really do love being busy.
This morning I'm thinking about my 6 T's of web work. I was talking to an associate about this stuff and I found myself saying "Yes, you have to try it on a test site, test the functionality, troubleshoot any issues, tweak things again, try in on the test site again, and transfer it to the live site."
That's when I realized, I had developed my 6 T's;
When you are working on a website and adding plugins or add-ons and integrating various platforms, you have to realize and accept that these things take time. It's like making bread from scratch. You mix it up with the yeast, gently knead the dough, let it rise, punch it down, let it rise again, bake it and then BOOM! You have a nice loaf of warm bread.
With your website, anything important that you are adding should first be tested on a "test site" You try the application, you test it to see if it does what you expect, (which it may not), you troubleshoot the issue, you tweak it a little, then you try the action again. When everything works, you transfer it to your live site.
Remember, it's not ready to go until everything works from A to Z. Like that loaf of bread, if you don't let it rise long enough, you'll end up with a flat loaf of bread that no one will be interested in.
The point is that the 6 T's are a must - and sometimes you have to go through them more than once - but you will end up with a nice result!
So you think you want a website?
Okay - if you live in New England and have seen the forecast for today - I hope you are not working! Get outside, play, sit in the sun, relax!
I always have something I can be working on and it's a good problem to have. But today I will not work. Today I will not be attached to my cell phone - today I will drink a glass of wine and relax. (if you know me you are not believing a word of this) but no really - I am going to relax today.
Work will be there tomorrow.
I love 6:00 a.m. That's when I can work uninterrupted. Everyone is sleeping and all is quiet. The birds start singing and I love that.
Having a home office can be a challenge because there's a perception that since I'm here and I'm visible - I can just be interrupted at any time. NOT SO!
I start my day at 6:00 a.m. and I have accomplished a lot by 9:00 a.m. It's great because I get a jump on the day, I answer emails, send emails, get reports together, and plan the rest of the day which usually ends around 6:00 p.m.
If you own a home business - you know what I am talking about. You may even start earlier and end later! It's what you do to keep things going and hopefully continue growing.
So get up early, get motivated - and get things done!
Web design can be both challenging and exciting. It can also create tons of brain clutter. Friday I took a mental health day after weeks without a real day off.
My brain was full of html code and graphics, web buttons and plugins! I was seeing social media icons in my dreams!
The fact is that there are so many choices when it comes to design that it can easily become a monster. Don't let that happen. When you're doing design work it's important to have a goal in mind of how many choices you want to offer your client. I mean you could look and find things forever and a day but keep the design in mind. Whether you offer 5 choices of communication plugins or 3 choices of buttons or 10 fonts - don't let it control you - you control it.
It's like a painting - you have to know when it's done.
So - how do you like the new look? I have been doing some Spring cleaning and Precious Crumbs has changed! A website that started out as a fun thing to do along with a little business has grown into a nice young business.
As you see, my theme is butterflies - or metamorphosis. I suppose that's what's has happened since 2012 when I first created Precious Crumbs.
So I'm going to try this blogging thing again. My goal is to write a "Sunday morning coffee blog" and talk to you about tips and advice based on my own knowledge and experience regarding web design and working virtually as well as administrative tips - and I may even throw in some personal stuff.
Hope you like the new design
Goodbye cocoon, hello flight!
