Yes that's right, I've got a cricket in the kitchen somewhere and it's singing away this morning. Apparently there are four reasons a cricket will chirp away and only the males chirp (of course) So he is either 1) looking for a female 2) is upset that there's another male cricket nearby 3) is trying to repel other male crickets or (get this) 4) has just mated and is happy. Sounds like the guys that I know! So good morning from me and the cricket in my kitchen.
Well summer has finally arrived and it's damn hot out there. I was sitting outside on the deck with my son and we were talking about the thunderstorms last night. He told me what thunder is and I told him I was always told that it was the angels bowling in Heaven! That's growing up Catholic for ya!
I started to think back to my youth and the days when we would stay outside in the rain - we didn't care if we got soaked - we loved it. And then I remembered that wonderful smell after a summer rain. AHHHHHH
So that got me to thinking - wouldn't it be nice if we had the ability to go back in time every now and then - and I don't mean go back to the usual life events like births and graduations. I mean go back to that summer day that you were playing outside in the rain. Wouldn't it be cool to be on the outside looking in and watch yourself enjoying that moment?
I have so many moments that I'd love to return to. I'd love to return to our old house in Newton on a Sunday when we had the whole family over for food and touch football or the days when we hung out by the footbridge with friends until it was time to go home, or the sound of my mother laughing, doesn't it always come back to our moms?
What would you go back to? Tell me!
It's me, just trying to get by.
